Chess champ makes the right moves for kids.

WHAT BETTER way to market a new restaurant than to be seen doing " the right thing"? FIO -- Country Kitchen & Bar, which has opened at the Garden of Five Senses in Said- ul Ajaib, has its strategy in place, as was evident during the Friday afternoon event it hosted for HIVpositive children from less- privileged families, a day before Children's Day.

Sixteen children from the Gurgaon- based orphanage, Drone Foundation, were made to feel special -- in the company of chess champ Tania Sachdev ( whom they probably didn't recognise) and Chamki and Googly from Galli Galli Sim Sim ( whom they did).

Sachdev, who has just returned from the Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, said she loved to be involved with causes -- she had been associated with the Save the Girl Child campaign in the past -- whenever she was in the capital. " It is so good to see the children appreciate the little things we can give them, like our time," she said. " And they are so much fun too. One of the children I spoke to, said his name was Abhishek Bachchan." Vineet and Vibha Wadhwa, owners of the restaurant, said their teenage daughter, who studies at Vasant Valley School, insisted that they host an event such as this one, when the restaurant opened formally. " We address her as the young Sheila Dikshit in the family," said the proud father.

The restaurant is letting another NGO use its space on Saturday to celebrate Children's Day.

Gallery Ragini owner Nidhi Jain had dropped in to spend time with the children, even though her gallery was holding a poetry- reading session to go along with Rohit Sharma's paintings, at Choko La, later in the evening. The children were having a good time running around, after watching a puppet show and taking a ride around the Garden in little golf carts.

One just wished everyone around wasn't so patronising.
