Cheshire Cup final between Chester and Macclesfield will take place at Stockport tomorrow evening with a 7.30pmkick-off.

It was impossible to find an earlier date due to Macclesfield's involvement in the promotion play-offs and Cheshire's run to the semi-final in the County Championship.

It is certainly not ideal for the clubs to be playing so late. Chester have not had a competitive match for a month.

On the other hand some of the Macclesfield men could be feeling jaded. Half of their team were with the county squad.

Macclesfield are bidding to retain the trophy after their win over Birkenhead Park Birkenhead Park is a public park in the centre of Birkenhead, Merseyside. They will start as favourities but Chester who have yet to put their name on the trophy cannot be written off.

They finished in the top five in North One. Macclesfield finished second and went on to win their play-off which earned them a step up to the National League system.

Macclesfield's only other county cup success came in the 1991-92 season. Prenton RUFC RUFC Rugby Union Football Club
RUFC Rotherham United Football Club
are hosting a Tag Tournament on Saturday,June 7 at their Prenton Dell Road ground, starting at 10am.

The tournament will be of mixed age groups, with three separate competitions taking place,Under-11,Under-16 and an adult competition.

Tournament organiser Russell Dodd said: ``We have worked hard to ensure that this tournament is a success. The whole idea of the day is to bring newcomers to the game of rugby. We have invited schools and teams that have not really had the opportunity to play before, and Tag Rugby Tag Rugby is a non-contact team game in which each player wears a belt that has two velcro tags attached to it, or shorts with velcro patches. The mode of play is similar to Rugby League with attacking players attempting to dodge, evade and pass a rugby ball while defenders attempt  is an ideal introduction to the game for them.''
