Keith Gilchrist was elected executive vice president-European packaging. Gilchrist is the chief executive of Chesapeake's newest acquisition, Field Group plc, which is based in the United Kingdom. Michael D. Beverly was elected assistant secretary to the corporation. Beverly has served as Chesapeake's associate general counsel since 1996 and will continue to serve in that role. Gilchrist joined Field Packaging at its Bradford plant in 1981 and was appointed General Manager of Field Packaging, Bradford, two years later. In 1985, Gilchrist was promoted to chief executive for Field. As chief executive, Gilchrist has been responsible for its acquisitions and major growth. Under his leadership, Field's sales increased 320 percent and earnings per share more than doubled. Gilchrist served as the chairman of the British Carton Association from 1994-1996 and chairman of the UK Paper Industry Material Organization from 1995-1996. Prior to joining Chesapeake Corporation, Beverly was in private practice from 1991 through 1996 with Hunton & Williams, a law firm headquartered in Richmond, Va., where he specialized spe·cial·ize v. spe·cial·ized, spe·cial·iz·ing, spe·cial·iz·es v.intr. 1.
