Chesapeake Corporation's UK Specialty Packaging Business Wins Packaging Excellence Awards.

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 3, 2000

Field Group plc, a subsidiary of Chesapeake Corporation (NYSE: CSK) and one of Europe's leading packaging manufacturers, has been awarded first prize in two categories of the API Awards in Excellence. Field also won second and third prize in a third category. API Foils, a specialty supplier of paper, board and stamping foils, is headquartered in Macclesfield, United Kingdom. The awards are presented annually and are open to API's customers worldwide.

Field's East Kilbride, U.K., facility, won first prize in the Laminated Board in Cartons category with a Buchanans DeLuxe Scotch whisky carton. The judges rated the carton highly on print quality, innovative and creative use of materials, and technical merit.

The carton was printed using the facility's U.V. flexographic carton press. The press has the ability to produce high-quality cartons when solid color saturation, fine line work and embossing are required in a single pass.

Field's Bradford, U.K., facility won first prize for a carton produced for confectioner Cadbury's. Field won in the Holographic Board category for Cadbury's limited edition Milk Tray carton. The carton, which gives the impression of changing appearance according to the light, was launched to mark the new Millennium. It was lithographically printed in three colors, and embossed. Field's Bradford facility won second and third prize in the Ink Overprinted Foil category for packaging for Cadbury's Caramels and Hazel Whirls.
