Cheryl England's Insatiable Appetite for Success Lands Her Promotion to President of Imagine Media's Computing Division.


BRISBANE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1999--

Fast-growing Imagine Media is celebrating the promotion of MacAddict's award-winning publisher, Cheryl England, to President of Imagine's Computing Division.

Imagine's Computing Division is currently home to the award-winning MacAddict magazine and the rapidly growing Maximum PC magazine and is looking to expand its focus beyond its current core markets in the near future.

England joined Imagine Media three and a half years ago as the Editor-in-Chief of MacAddict magazine. She immediately sent a wake-up call through the Mac community when she and her editorial staff seized the 1996 Computer Press Award for Best Overall Magazine based on MacAddict's first three issues.

Promoted to the position of Publisher and Editorial Director of MacAddict magazine in December of 1997, England and her team continued to launch MacAddict into an aggressive streak of growth in circulation, advertising pages, and revenue. And, to top it off, in addition to the 1996 CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000.  award, MacAddict received a number of industry award nominations and won the 1998 Folio Editorial Excellence Award for the Computing Category.

 (Computer Publishing and Advertising Report) July 20th edition reports that Maximum PC posted 97.5% growth in advertising pages and a 181.1% increase in advertising revenue in the first six months of 1999 (January to June), versus the same timeframe a year ago. In addition, CPAR reports Maximum PC is leading the way among the consumer magazines with its year-to-date advertising page gains of 97.5%. Like MacAddict, Maximum PC has also received strong industry recognition. It was recently nominated by the Western Publications Association for three 1999 Maggie awards in the categories of Best Computer &Telecommunication Consumer Magazine, Best New Consumer Publication, and Best Overall Design.
