Cherokee International Unveils Its Ultra-High-Density CAR1248 Front End / Rectifier; 1200-Watt Front End / Rectifier Packs 19 Watts Per Cubic Inch.

TUSTIN, Calif. -- Continuing its innovation in power density, Cherokee International, a leading manufacturer of power supplies, today announced its CAR1248 front end / rectifier rectifier, component of an electric circuit used to change alternating current to direct current. Rectifiers are made in various forms, all operating on the principle that current passes through them freely in one direction but only slightly or not at all in the  intended for low profile, distributed power architecture applications. Packaged in a small, 1U-high footprint and measuring 1.65 by 3.44 by 11.2 inches, the CAR1248 front end / rectifier provides best-in-class power density of 19 watts (W) per cubic inch Noun 1. cubic inch - the volume equal to a cube one inch on each side

. The CAR1248 delivers a 48 volt (V) single output at 25 amps (A) intended to be used as a regulated bus along with a 5V standby voltage to power external housekeeping and monitoring circuitry. With leading edge power density, the CAR front end / rectifier is narrow enough to fit up to five units in a power shelf -- supplying up to 4800W N+1 redundant or 6000W.

The CAR1248 is ideal for design engineers faced with high power requirements in constrained spaces such as low to mid servers, enterprise networking The networking infrastructure in a large enterprise with multiple computer systems and networks of different types is extraordinarily complex. Due to the myriad of interfaces that are required, much of what goes on has little to do with the real data processing of the payroll and orders. , power over Ethernet Power over Ethernet or PoE technology describes a system to transmit electrical power, along with data, to remote devices over standard twisted-pair cable in an Ethernet network.  (POE), and automatic test equipment applications.

"As our customers' end equipment becomes more sophisticated with greater performance and features, the power demanded from internal microprocessors within the equipment is increasing at the expense of available room for power," said Mike Wagner Michael Robert Wagner (born June 22, 1949 in Waukegan, Illinois) is a former American football player. He played at safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League from 1971 to 1980. , vice president of marketing for Cherokee International. "Our 1U CAR1248 illustrates an example of our execution from our product road map demonstrating Cherokee International's commitment to providing best-in-class power densities with competitive value."

The wide-range, universal-input CAR1248 comes with integrated redundant diodes and a thermally controlled fan enabling -25 degrees Celsius (C) to +70C operation and -40C startup capability -- ideal for radio frequency (RF) amplifiers and wireless applications. Additional features include hot-swap and fault redundancy, active single-wire load sharing Distributing the workload between two or more computers. , remote on/off and front plate LEDs. Protection features on the rectifier include input over and under voltage, output over voltage, over temperature and over current.

An accompanying racking system, the ACE125, offers system scalability accommodating up to five modules (6000W) or 4800W in a redundant, hot-swap configuration. The full featured ACE125 rack, providing 4800W, comes equipped with a low voltage disconnect (LVD See LVDS.

The basic version of the rack is offered without the monitoring control and LVD features, which allows room for an additional CAR1248 module for a total of 6000W. Pricing and Availability

The CAR1248 modules are priced at $250 in OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  quantities. Samples and low order quantities are available from stock.
