CASH-STRAPPED Villa Espanola Espanola (ĕs'pənyōl`ə), city (1990 pop. 8,389), Rio Arriba and Santa Fe counties., N central N.Mex., on the Rio Grande, in the heart of pueblo country; founded 1880, inc. 1964.  were bounced out of Uruguay's top flight last week after trying to pay off a debt by cheque.

Villa failed to meet a deadline imposed by the Uruguayan FA for the payment of pounds 60,000 to former players. And they were instantly relegated despite director Luis Gomez claiming he had offered to settle up by cheque.

The club will now be inactive in·ac·tive
