Chena Hot Springs Resort.


Chena Hot Springs Resort's new geothermal unit was named Project of the Year in the renewables category as part of an international competition with hundreds of submissions. The alternative energy project, which came online last August, was in part funded by an Alaska Energy Authority (AEA AEA Atomic Energy Authority

The award was sponsored by Power Engineering Magazine, and was announced recently at the Power Gen conference in Orlando, Fla.

The innovative new geothermal unit has won another energy award, this time the "2006 On-Site Generation Award" annually bestowed by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C.
