Surprisingly though, most of the Evertonians were sorry - the reason being that Chelsea would have to be playing a Champions League final just a few days before meeting Everton in the FA Cup at Wembley. That surprised me because unless they win the Premier League, which is extremely unlikely, they will go to Wembley still having won nothing with three different managers since Mourinho. So their confidence won't be at a peak and they certainly won't exceed the hunger of the Everton team or match the fervour of the Merseyside fans. If they had got to the European final though, and actually beaten Manchester United, they would be absolutely buzzing - and that would have made it more difficult for Everton.
