Claire Bretton, 30, a chef at The George Hotel, died at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary The Huddersfield Royal Infirmary is a hospital situated in the English town of Huddersfield. It is situated in the suburb of Lindley and provides general services, emergency services and some specialist services.  after collapsing at her Moldgreen home on December 17, Huddersfield Coroner's Court was told.

Miss Bretton, who weighed 18st 5lb, had complained of swelling in her foot two days before her death.

The court heard how Miss Bretton had been sleeping on the sofa when she suddenly coughed and sat up.

She was dead on arrival at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The cause of death was dilated cardiomyopathy Dilated cardiomyopathy
Also called congestive cardiomyopathy; cardiomyopathy in which the walls of the heart chambers stretch, enlarging the heart ventricles so they can hold a greater volume of blood than normal.
, the inquest heard.

Coroner Roger Whittaker said Miss Bretton had, on the balance of probability, died from an enlarged heart with obesity as a secondary cause of death.

He recorded a verdict of death by natural causes..
