THIS is the last-known picture of a student and her boyfriend celebrating her A-level results just hours before tragedy struck.

Alyn Thomas, of Cymmer, and Kat McGrath, from Brackla, Bridgend were captured on camera by a friend in the early hours of last Friday morning.

Hours later, McGrath, 18, was arrested on suspicion of murdering her boyfriend.

The Brynteg Comprehensive School student had been celebrating with her boyfriend in Bridgend town centre.

Robert Jones, of Brackla, was shocked by the death. The teenager had bumped into the pair at a takeaway shortly after midnight.

Mr Jones, 18, had been toasting his own exam results before stopping for food on Wyndham Street.

He said: "They seemed to be having a fun time and she seemed quite happy."

Mr Jones took a photograph of the couple to add to his social networking site.

Katherine Rosie McGrath appeared before Bridgend Magistrates' Court charged with murder on Tuesday.

She was remanded in custody.
