) today announced that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire its distributor in Japan, Checkpoint Systems Japan, Co., Ltd.

With operations throughout Japan, Checkpoint Japan has been Checkpoint's exclusive distributor for retail products since 1984.

The acquisition for an undisclosed amount, is subject to the execution of a definitive purchase agreement and is expected to be completed before December 31, 1996.
