Checkpoint Systems Introduces CheckPASS, A Total Resource Management Solution For Libraries.

THOROFARE, N.J. -- Checkpoint Systems, Inc., (NYSE: CKP) introduces CheckPASS, a complete resource management system for libraries. CheckPASS enables libraries to automate functions that used to be time-consuming and labor-intensive, such as scheduling computer time for patrons, managing patron printing and copying costs and collecting fees and fines for overdue books. CheckPASS can be purchased by libraries as a stand-alone system or as part of Checkpoint's Intelligent Library System.

Libraries are facing growing patron demands for computer, printing, and copying services. Checkpoint's latest offering helps libraries manage patrons' requests without any additional burden on library staff members. CheckPASS allows patrons to reserve computer time, request and pay for printing and copying jobs, or pay library fees, all without staff assistance. It offers patron convenience and helps libraries manage the high cost of providing printers and copiers for patron use.

CheckPASS enables libraries to create, monitor and manage patron accounts from an existing PC, with no need for additional hardware or servers, and to integrate these accounts seamlessly with Checkpoint's RFID-based Intelligent Library System(R) (ILS). CheckPASS works with traditional barcode systems as well as magnetic-strip or RFID patron cards.

Patrons use one card - their library card - for checking out materials, reserving computers and requesting or paying for photocopies and computer printouts. With CheckPASS, patrons can use a self-service unit to add cash to their account balances. When they learn they have a fine due, they can pay with the touch of a button at a Patron Self Checkout Station, and the correct amount is automatically debited from their account. Patrons save time, while libraries recover the cost of printing and copying supplies, improve their fine collection system and free library staff for other tasks.
