Checkpoint Systems Converts Italy's Giacomelli Stores to Digital RF Technology From Acoustomagnetic; Will Equip New Stores With Digital RF Technology As Chain Expands.

Checkpoint Systems, Inc., (NYSE: CKP), a leading provider of supply chain management and security solutions worldwide, announced that it was awarded a contract by Giacomelli, an Italy-based sportswear chain with 85 stores in 21 countries, to convert it from acoustomagnetic technology to Checkpoint's radio frequency technology (RF EAS). The conversion, which was recently completed, followed the successful testing of RF EAS at five Giacomelli stores. All new openings will be installed with Checkpoint's digital RF technology.

Checkpoint's RF EAS systems use proprietary radio frequency-based (RF) technology. When an active product tag passes through a sensor's detection field, it interrupts a radio frequency signal, triggering an alarm that alerts the retailer to a possible shoplifting attempt.
