"They've been saying 'How could you choose this hotel and not us? We're much sexier than they are.'"

The list was compiled from reviews by Holland and other Sky Radio staff member. He said they were always lodged on Sky's dime.

He was emphatic about the list's editorial independence. While some of the hotels on the list have been clients of Sky Radio over the years--for example, the Soho Grand in New York--he said the list includes hotels that have not done business with Sky, and leaves out some in competing markets that have been Sky clients.

The hotels named on the list can purchase their award--an S-shaped trophy--for $325.
