Checkfree and IA Corporation Agree to Jointly Market Their Electronic Banking Products; New Marketing Agreement Results in the Most Comprehensive Cash Management Line of Products in the Market.

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 1, 1996--In a further push to make electronic banking a part of everyday life, CheckFree Corp. (NASDAQ: CKFR), has agreed to strategically co-market its products with California-based IA Corporation, a leader in image-based cash management software.

Under the terms of the agreement, both IA Corporation and CheckFree Corp. will co-market each other's products to their customers, extending the reach for both companies. The resulting offering will allow banks to generate fee-based income from advanced cash management services and differentiate the banks' products.

The alliance will initially focus on the Account Reconciliation product area, with further co-development of both wholesale and retail image cash management services. Cash management is the strategic use of information about a firm's collections, disbursements and balances to effectively manage the company's available funds.

Account reconciliation is a checking account service offered by banks to their corporate customers. It includes check writing, balance reporting and exception reporting capabilities for fraud control.

CheckFree and IA products already co-exist in many of the nation's top banks.

For example, many customers use CheckFree for account reconciliation, automatic payment or other electronic banking services. At these same banks, when a customer needs to retrieve a check image to verify a Payee or signature, they use IA's CheckVision to sort and access the actual image.

SouthTrust, a major bank based in Birmingham, Ala. is an example of one such existing CheckFree/IA installation.
