Check your credits with your debit card. (Marketing News).

Customers enrolled in Cleveland-based Charter One Financial's MegaRewards Debit MasterCard program can keep track of their points-and even redeem them- online. The more than 600,000 Charter One debit rewards customers can, by logging in at www.charterone.com. determine how many points they have accrued toward merchandise and travel benefits.

Participants in the MegaRewards program earn a point for every dollar they spend with their Charter One debit cards. The program is open to all debit card holders who also have a checking account.

Charter One officials say they believe theirs is the first program to permit users to redeem their points online and is one of only a few such programs tied to a debit card. The program is designed to "build our customer base and retain loyal Charter One customers," says David A. Bowen, senior vice president and retail product manager.
