REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 1999--

Industry-leading Check Point VPN and security

software integrated on the Nokia Internet

appliance to be distributed exclusively by Check Point

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) and Nokia (NYSE: NOK), today announced an expanded relationship covering the development and distribution of the VPN-1 Appliance product family. Check Point Software's appliance line is being extended to include full-featured versions of the industry leading Nokia IP330, IP440 and IP650 available with Check Point VPN-1 and FireWall-1(R) software options. With the addition of these high performance, high availability Internet appliances, Check Point is uniquely qualified to meet the Internet security needs of all size organizations, including small to medium businesses, enterprise customers and managed service providers.

Under the expanded relationship, VPN-1 Appliances will be exclusively available in North and South America from Check Point Software and its reseller partners. The new solutions include support for high availability and load sharing for VPNs and other mission critical security solutions, and form an integral component of Check Point's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) Architecture.

"We are very excited to join with Nokia in broadening our market-leading VPN-1 product family," said Jerry Ungerman executive vice president of Check Point Software Technologies. "With the expanded partnership, Check Point can provide customers, resellers and partners with a single source for integrated VPN and firewall appliance solutions jointly developed by Nokia and Check Point."

The Check Point/Nokia VPN-1 Appliance line is already the industry's most popular solution with a market share almost three times that of any other vendor, according to recent independent data by Infonetics Research, Inc. of San Jose.

"By combining efforts, Nokia and Check Point are ideally positioned to extend their leadership in the security appliance market." said Don Jaworski, vice president and general manager, Nokia IP Routing. "Nokia looks forward to leveraging the strong sales and distribution partners of Check Point to reach a broad cross-section of customers. This initiative is consistent with our strategy of becoming the Internet appliance supplier of choice, for both enterprise and managed service providers looking to deploy mission critical Internet applications."

The Nokia/Check Point VPN-1 Appliance integrates Check Point's proven VPN-1/FireWall-1 security software with the comprehensive Nokia IP Internet appliance to deliver powerful Internet connectivity solutions. For all VPN-1 Appliance products, security and operating system software is installed and pre-configured for rapid deployment. The VPN-1 appliance is managed centrally, enabling VPN functionality to be integrated with the overall network security policy and effectively administered from a single console.

The Nokia Internet appliance has quickly become the choice of both enterprise and managed service customers due to its simplicity, performance and high availability. The Nokia offering enables customers to rapidly deploy mission critical internet applications such as firewall and VPN solutions from Check Point Software, without the complexity of integrating software and hardware components from various suppliers.

The jointly developed VPN-1 Appliances are an important element of Check Point Software's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture, which uniquely enables organizations to secure networks, systems, users and applications across enterprise networks. The SVN approach provides the industry's most comprehensive framework for secure and seamless Internet connectivity across the Internet, intranets and extranets.
