CheMatch.com Announces First Bulk Plastics Trades; Exchange Sets New Trading Benchmarks.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2000

CheMatch.com, a leading global Internet exchange and information resource for buying and selling bulk commodity chemicals, plastics and fuel products, announced that exchange members have transacted the first two trades for bulk plastics on the CheMatch.com platform. The company launched its bulk plastics transaction capability last week, offering trading for fifteen commodity grades of bulk polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and PVC PVC: see polyvinyl chloride.

With over $31.6 million in transactions in the first quarter to date, CheMatch.com has already surpassed its previously announced fourth quarter 1999 trading record. The company also reported that it has set new highs for monthly and daily transaction levels. February trading has exceeded CheMatch.com's previous monthly volume high with 351,000 barrels (47,775 metric tons) transacted on the platform. Furthermore, the company had $4.8 million transacted on its exchange on February 11, which exceeded the previous daily record of $3.8 million.
