Chautauqua Airlines, Inc. Announces Closing of Fort Wayne Maintenance Facility.

Chautauqua Airlines Chautauqua Airlines is an airline based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. It operates scheduled passenger services on more than 670 flights daily to cities in 30 states, Canada and the Bahamas, through feeder services under the names Delta Connection for Delta Air Lines, , Inc. said today that it would close its Fort Wayne aircraft maintenance facility by August 2002. Since 1999, the facility has served as the primary maintenance base for the airline's fleet of Saab 340 aircraft. The decision to close the facility is due to the airlines decision to eliminate the Saab 340 aircraft from its operations. Chautauqua Chau`tau´qua

 currently employees over 50 people in Fort Wayne. All staff currently working in Fort Wayne will be offered jobs throughout the Chautauqua Airlines system. These employees include maintenance personnel that staff the hangar facility; flight crews based in Fort Wayne, as well as customer service personnel that work at the passenger terminal. Chautauqua anticipates that US Airways will select a replacement carrier to serve the Ft.Wayne market prior to Chautauqua's termination of service.
