Chateau Ste. Michelle farm workers to vote tomorrow.


KENNEWICK, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1995--Former Speaker of the House Thomas Foley Thomas Foley and Tom Foley are common names used in reference to:
  • Tom Foley, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives
  • Thomas Patrick Roger Foley, Bishop of Chicago
  • Thomas C.
 announced today that the union vote by Chateau Ste. Michelle The Chateau Ste. Michelle is a Washington winery in Woodinville, Washington. They are noted for their bestselling Riesling (as the largest single producer of Riesling in the world), but produce wines of many classic varietals and some experimental wines on a per-year basis. Ste.  farm workers will take place tomorrow (Friday, June 2).

This vote will be the first farm labor union labor union: see union, labor.  election in Washington state.

Farm workers for the winery will have the opportunity to vote for or against representation by the United Farm Workers of America The United Farm Workers of America (UFW) began in 1962 as a coalition of poorly paid migrant farm workers and grew into a powerful Labor Union that has consistently fought to increase wages and improve working conditions for its members. . Speaker Foley and the neutral election commission created by the union and the winery will oversee the election and tally the ballots. The outcome of the election will be announced at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow. If winery employees vote for the UFW UFW United Farm Workers (union)

, the winery and the union will bargain in good faith for a contract. If the parties are unable to reach agreement on a contract, then either party may invoke binding arbitration. If the workers vote against representation, the UFW will stop all organizing for one year.
