ChatCom Awarded Canadian Government Contract; ChatCom Awarded Sole Source Canadian Government Contract.


CHATSWORTH, Calif--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 1997--ChatCom Inc. (Nasdaq:CHAT), the leading manufacturer of highly managed rack mounted Built into a cabinet that has a standard width of 19" or 24". SMP versions share a common memory pool.  products Friday announced that they have been awarded a sole source contract to provide their RAINS (Redundant Array of Independent Network Servers) hardware to the Canadian government in support of ongoing network infrastructure re-engineering projects.

The Canadian government will use ChatCom hardware to minimize its risk of network downtime in critical data delivery environments. The ChatCom RAINS platform was chosen primarily because of its redundancy and high performance. The ChatCom hardware also allows the government to scale (grow) the system seamlessly as data and the number of network clients increase.

The contract, and IDIQ IDIQ Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (contracting/procurement)  (indefinite duration/indefinite quantity), is valued at approximately $2.5 million over the next eight to 12 months. ChatCom expects to ship the first portion of RAINS hardware, valued at $424,994 (USDLR), to Canada within the next two weeks, for installation by the government on Dec. 1, 1997.
