Chat Rooms Get Personal: L.A. Firm Creates Cutting-Edge On-line Community.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--The days of all-text Internet chat rooms are numbered, thanks to a new on-line community called OnChat.

Located at http://www.onchat.com, this diverse collection of chat rooms features fully graphical scenarios and colorful avatars. What distinguishes OnChat from other graphical chats is that, for the first time ever, users can create their own rooms using simple on-line tools. OnChat hosts the user-created chat room for free. There is no software to download and no charge to the user. Like other content sites, OnChat will be financed by advertising.

OnChat is the creation of Media SuperCollider su·per·col·lid·er

"But it went much further. The graphic capabilities became more intense. And more and more, we put creative freedom in the hands of the user. We even allow them to spray graffiti graffiti

Ibrahim hopes that organizations and groups of friends worldwide will build virtual meeting rooms and club-houses at OnChat. To promote privacy, users can limit access to specified visitors.

"They can create a room at OnChat, or simply choose from a gallery of custom rooms, and link it directly from their site," said Ibrahim. "This is an open invitation for Webmasters to put this exciting free technology into their Web pages," said Ibrahim. To help facilitate development, OnChat will assist affiliate Web sites in the design and programming of their rooms.
