Chase Says Hello to West Virginia March 13; Bank One Changes its Name to Chase at 30 Branches.

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Chase will say "Hello" to Bank One customers next week as signs at 30 branches in West Virginia are changed to Chase, the consumer and commercial banking brand of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM).

The name change results from the 2004 merger of Bank One with JPMorgan Chase.

"We're proud of our heritage in West Virginia, and we're proud to move to a brand that has a long-standing place in our country's banking history," said Mark Prince, CEO of Chase in West Virginia. "Through expanded products and services, our combined company will make banking even more convenient and efficient for Chase customers in our region."

Some 300 signs in West Virginia will change to Chase as part of the rebranding effort, which officially starts on March 13. West Virginia customers also will see the Chase brand highlighted in a major marketing and advertising campaign in the coming weeks - and will have a chance to win free gas for a year.

Celebrating Chase

To celebrate the brand change, Governor Joe Manchin will join the local Chase management team at an unveiling event 9 a.m. Monday, March 13 at Chase's Charleston Main Office at 707 Virginia St. East. Similar unveiling events will take place in cities across the state.

As part of the celebration, Chase is giving West Virginia residents the chance to win one of 11 "free gas for a year" plus 800 other gas prizes in denominations ranging from $50 to $500. Scratch-off game pieces will be distributed in newspapers across West Virginia on March 12 and will be available at all Chase branches.

Chase is also sponsoring two special David Copperfield shows March 26 at the Clay Center in Charleston. Copperfield is a renowned magician and illusionist best known for his combination of spectacular illusions and storytelling. His most famous feats include making the Statue of Liberty disappear, levitating over the Grand Canyon, and walking through the Great Wall of China.

Marketing blitz

Chase kicks off its advertising campaign March 6 with a 30-second television commercial that invites current and new customers to come into the bank's offices and say "Hello" to the new brand. The commercial is set to a rendition of the Beatles' 1967 hit song "Hello, Goodbye." Starting in April, commercials will highlight Chase's products and services.

Making it easy for customers

Customers should continue using their Bank One checks, ATM cards and debit cards. New Chase debit and ATM cards began going out to customers earlier this month and customers will receive Chase-branded checks when they place a new check order. Online banking customers can continue logging onto www.BankOne.com until March 25.

"The transition to the Chase brand should be smooth and easy for our customers," said Sharon Parsons, West Virginia Manager of Chase Retail Banking. "Our merger gave our customers access to more ATMs as well as improved products and services. Now, we're moving to the Chase name on our signs here."
