Chase Research announces NetCHASER ISDN adapters; Value priced and lifetime warranty for Internet and Home/Remote Users; Featured at Interop Las Vegas, April 2-4, 1996, Booth 2760.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 1996--Chase Research today introduced the NetCHASER, a high speed, feature-rich ISDN terminal adapter A device that adapts a computer to a digital ISDN line. Like a modem, it plugs into the serial port of the computer or into an expansion slot. Some terminal adapters use the parallel port for higher speed.  (ISDN modem An alternative name for ISDN terminal adapter. The term is widely used, because the unit looks like a modem, connects to the same serial port as a modem and may support analog phones. See ISDN terminal adapter. ) aimed squarely at home/remote office and Internet users requiring high bandwidth. The product will be displayed at the upcoming Interop trade show, April 1-5, 1996 in Las Vegas.

"NetCHASER is very cost/performance oriented and is an excellent choice for users now migrating to ISDN ISDN

lines," said Mark Heath, Chase Research's ISDN Marketing Manager. "The product is geared towards simple installation and backed by a very effective support system to help users switch quickly," he added. NetCHASER is backed by a very unique lifetime warranty, not offered by competitive products, that allows complete user confidence.

Applications for the NetCHASER include internet access, telecommuting telecommuting, an arrangement by which people work at home using a computer and telephone, transmitting work material to a business office by means of a modem and telephone lines; it is also known as telework. , remote access, fast file transfer and branch office connectivity. As a rapidly growing modem alternative, ISDN cuts telephone costs by reducing transfer times at prices comparable to and frequently less than two analog lines. NetCHASER supports ISDN services including caller ID, call filtering and cause codes. It also has a detailed call log for accurate tracking of incoming and outgoing calls.

With data compression and channel bonding the NetCHASER offers connect speeds of 128 kbps and interface speeds of up to 460.8 kbps. This speed breakthrough coupled with ISDN's all-digital reliability drastically improves the stability and throughput of remote access and Internet connections compared to traditional analog modems.

In addition to the high speed data port NetCHASER has two analog POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) ports allowing two devices such as phones, modems and fax machines to be connected, each POTS port can be given a different number eliminating the need for multiple phone lines. NetCHASER has a built-in NT1 meaning that it can be installed directly to ISDN wall outlets. It has support for National ISDN-1 (NI-1) and NI-2 as well as all other major central office switches making it compatible with ISDN services from all Regional Bells.

Internet access is achieved using async-to-sync PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using  conversion and NetCHASER works with all Web browsers including Mosaic, Netscape, Netshark, et. al. The product is sold as a complete Internet access solution and includes trial Internet access software and a special offer voucher for the Chase IOXTRA 16650 add-in I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

board. The IOXTRA makes users' PCs fully "ISDN ready" for speeds of up to 460.8 kbps. NetCHASER is compatible with Apple, DOS and Windows operating systems, including Windows 95.

With FLASH upgrade support for Multi-link PPP (MLPPP See MPPP. ) technology, NetCHASER will allow dynamic bandwidth scaling allowing phone calls to be made during high speed data transfer by re-allocating one of the 64kbps B-channels for voice communication. Data transfer will continue at a lower rate until the voice call is completed then move back up to the higher speed using both channels.

Chase Research offers an extensive set of support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  to offer customer advice and facilitate installation. NetCHASER includes ordering codes that you can use to tell your local telephone company exactly how to set up your ISDN line. Chase support engineers are also on call to resolve ISDN issues about availability, applications or working directly with telephone companies to insure smooth setup. Services include a toll-free 800 number for both pre-and post-retail sales support (800-242-7387), email support (support@chaser.com) and a bulletin board service. In addition, Chase Research product information may be obtained via the World Wide Web at http://www.chaser.com.

The NetCHASER has a suggested list price of $425 and will be available through Chase Research authorized distributors including Tech Data and selected retailers nationwide.
