Chase Comes Home to Ohio March 13; Bank One Changes its Name to Chase at 280 Branches.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Chase comes home next week as 280 Bank One branches in Ohio are changed to Chase, the consumer and commercial banking brand of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM).

The name change results from the 2004 merger of Bank One with JPMorgan Chase.

"We're proud of our heritage in Ohio, the birthplace of Bank One. And we are proud to now move to a brand that has a long-standing place in our country's banking history," said Joe Keller, Manager of Retail Banking for Chase in Ohio.

Chase predecessor Chase National Bank was founded in 1877 and named after Salmon P. Chase, two-term Ohio governor, Secretary of Treasury under President Abraham Lincoln, and chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 1934, the U.S. Treasury honored Chase's memory by placing his portrait on the $10,000 Federal Reserve note. Salmon P. Chase is buried at the Spring Grove Cemetery just outside Cincinnati.

Some 5,500 signs in Ohio will change to Chase as part of the rebranding effort, with the official shift to Chase on Monday, March 13. Customers in Ohio also will see the Chase brand highlighted in a major marketing and advertising campaign in the coming weeks - and will have a chance to win free gasoline for a year.

Marketing blitz

Chase kicks off its advertising campaign March 6 with a 30-second television commercial that invites current and new customers to come into the bank's offices and say "Hello" to the new brand. The commercial is set to a rendition of the Beatles' 1967 hit song "Hello, Goodbye." Starting in April, commercials will highlight Chase's products and services.

To celebrate the new brand in Ohio, Chase is giving consumers the chance to win one of 11 "free gas for a year" prizes plus 800 other gas prizes of $50 to $500. Consumers can find scratch-off game pieces in Sunday newspapers across Ohio on March 12 and at all Chase branches.

Making it easy for customers

Customers should continue using their Bank One checks, ATM cards and debit cards. New Chase debit and ATM cards began going out to customers earlier this month and customers will receive Chase-branded checks when they place a new check order. Online banking customers can continue logging onto www.BankOne.com until March 25.

"The transition to the Chase brand should be smooth and easy for our customers," Keller said. "Our merger has given our customers access to more than 7,300 ATMs across the country as well as improved products and services. Now, we're moving to the Chase name on our signs here."

--Payments on Chase loans accepted at all Chase and Bank One branches (including credit cards, mortgages and car loans)

--Free access to more than 7,300 ATMs nationwide (and more than 800 in Ohio)

--Larger and quicker loans through syndication for commercial customers

--Greater international presence for commercial banking customers
