Chase, arrest follow carjack.

Eugene police arrested a man Saturday night in connection with a car jacking and high-speed chase that started in the Ferry Street Ferry Street (Chinese: 渡船街) is a street between Ferry Point and Mong Kok Tsui in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The street was on the shore of old reclamation before the new West Kowloon reclamation in 1990s.  Bridge area and ended north of Eugene.

The incident began about 7:30 p.m. when a man opened the door of a car stopped for a traffic signal at Coburg and Country Club roads and demanded that the driver get out, police said. The carjacker then drove off, but the victim climbed into a witness' vehicle and they followed. They kept police updated with the vehicle's location, and Eugene officers spotted the car in Coburg.

The driver made a few turns and police began pursuing him back toward Eugene at speeds of up to 80 mph. The driver allegedly tried to run motorists off the road, police said.

Police deployed spike strips, designed to puncture vehicle tires, and managed to reduce the driver's speed to 50 mph. Officers then maneuvered into place in front of and behind the car just north of Armitage Park, near the McKenzie River For rivers name "Mackenzie", see .

Police stopped the chase after a collision and arrested the suspect after a brief scuffle. Officers charged Jesse Lynn Kephart, 23, of Eugene, with robbery, attempted assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony eluding e·lude
