In the early morning hours of June 18th torrential rains poured more than 8 inches of water into the Gainesville and Sherman areas. The National Weather Service said rain fell at a rate of an inch every 15 minutes in some places early Monday and also issued a flash flood warning A Flash Flood Warning is issued when a flash flood is imminent or occurring in the warned area. Later that afternoon Cotton dispatched crews from Dallas to immediately begin damage assessment and restoration services.

Cotton's Preferred Client Program and traditional recovery services include immediate storm response, clean up and removal of debris, water mitigation, drying, dehumidification, and preparing affected areas for the next stage of restoration and rebuilding. Cotton's specially trained employees provide onsite "first responder first responder First response personnel Emergency medicine A person employed in the public sector–EMT, fire fighter, police, volunteer EMS–whose duties include provision of immediate medical care in the event of an emergency; FRs have basic emergency " services to respond to fire, water and weather-related emergencies, to both commercial and residential clients.

Pete Bell, President of Cotton, commented, "Quick response to water damage is essential for recovery. Every hour that water stands within a property it lessens the chance for proper structural restoration. Cotton, with one of the largest inventories of state-of-the-art drying and dehumidification equipment in the nation, fulfills all of the needs required. From monitoring air quality and anti-microbial application to inhibit mold growth, through the document and electronic recovery process, Cotton's first priority is putting people back to work and back in their homes."
