Chartered Expands Marketing Presence in Europe.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 1996--As part of its strategy to build a global market presence, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing SGX: C27 NASDAQ: CHRT (abbreviated CSM) is the world's fourth largest dedicated independent semiconductor foundry, with its headquarters and main operations located in the Woodlands Industrial Park, Kranji Singapore.  has announced the appointment of a new executive and the immediate opening of new regional headquarters in Europe.

Walter Prochaska has joined Chartered as vice president of sales for Europe. Prochaska, who is based near Munich in Germering, Germany, will focus on extending Chartered's marketing focus to those companies seeking leading-edge, deep-submicron foundry support. Prochaska will also oversee all sales and customer service activities in Europe.

An industry veteran with more than 25 years' experience in high technology, Prochaska has held numerous sales and marketing positions in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Microelectronics. He has held management positions at several other companies, including Fairchild Semiconductor and Texas Instruments See TI.
