WGAL-TV Captures Middletown Couple's Reaction to Being Named

Winners of 'Neighborhood Days' Promotion

Kuang and Stella Huang of Middletown will not have to pay the monthly mortgage on their brand new home in Enola for an entire year.

On November 1, Charter Homes presented the couple with a check for one year's worth of free mortgage and interest payments for their new home located in Charter Homes' Westwood Glen neighborhood in Enola, just west of Harrisburg. The Huangs are moving from an apartment in Middletown to a new 2,600 square foot, 4 bedroom home. This is their first home. Rob Bowman, president of Charter Homes, presented the check to the surprised couple, and the happy moment was captured by NBC affiliate WGAL-TV, which broadcast the segment three times on Friday November 1 during the 12:00, 6:00 and 11:00 news. The cash value of the prize is $15,000.

"The look of surprise and joy on the Huangs' faces was priceless when we presented them with the poster-sized check and they saw the TV crew from WGAL," says Bowman. "This 'Year of Living Free' program allows us to offer one lucky family a great start to enjoying their new home."

This promotion is part of Charter Homes' annual Neighborhood Days event which takes place in September each year. It was started in 1999, and 2001 was the first year for the "Year of Living Free" promotion. This promotion was a great way for Charter Homes to generate sales during their Neighborhood Days event and in turn, help one homebuyer adjust to the first year of living in their new home by removing the financial pressure of a new mortgage for one year.
