ChartOne Expands Patient Chart Management Offerings; New Software Fully Automates Chart Management, While New Coding Services Help Healthcare Providers Address Coding Delays.

Business Editors/Health/Medical Writers/High-Tech Writers

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2003

At the opening of the American Health Information Management Association The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is a non-profit association for health information management professionals. The organization was founded in 1928, and has 51,000 members.  (AHIMA AHIMA American Health Information Management Association (Chicago, IL) ) annual conference, ChartOne(TM) unveiled its latest products and services to facilitate patient chart management and optimize healthcare providers' revenue cycles.

"With our two new technology offerings, Completion Manager(TM) and Coding Manager(TM), ChartOne can now help providers automate the entire chart management process, making it more efficient," said ChartOne Chief Executive Officer Brian Cahill. "ChartOne has also introduced Coding Services to help eliminate coding backlogs. These additions to our portfolio give ChartOne one of the most comprehensive and advanced arrays of chart management solutions in the industry."

Completion Manager(TM) simplifies chart completion by bringing the process online, which speeds up chart analysis, deficiency tracking and electronic sign-off on charts by physicians in preparation for billing. Chart analysts electronically alert physicians to any completion-related tasks that they must perform, and the system logs which tasks the physicians have completed and which they have not. Staff can then monitor chart status via real-time reports and head off delinquencies before they occur. Throughout this process, physicians, the emergency department, coders and the business office continue to have access to the charts, so tasks that depend on this access can be completed in tandem Adv. 1. in tandem - one behind the other; "ride tandem on a bicycle built for two"; "riding horses down the path in tandem"

By making charts electronically available, Coding Manager(TM) allows users to code charts as well as manage and audit the coding process from any location. Coders can work remotely, transfer overflow work to service companies and send information to auditors. As a result, coding productivity increases and discharges not final billed (DNFB DNFB Discharged Not Final Billed (hospitals)

) days decrease. In addition, because auditors spend less time traveling from site to site, they can be more productive, which means a greater level of feedback reaches coders to ultimately improve the overall coding process.

ChartOne's new Coding Services give providers a solution to coder shortages through a complete package that includes hardware, software, clerks and coders. All coding staff are fully credentialed and use ChartOne's software. Charts are scanned, coded by remote workers and returned securely to the provider organization in electronic form.

ChartOne's other technology offerings include View Manager(TM), which replaces paper in the file room with digital images and delivers secure, seamless, real-time access to patient charts, and eSignature Manager(TM), which speeds the completion process by enabling physicians to sign off on documents electronically from anywhere. Other service offerings include ROI (Return On Investment) The monetary benefits derived from having spent money on developing or revising a system. In the IT world, there are more ways to compute ROI than Carter has liver pills (and for those of you who never heard of that expression, it means a lot).  (Release of Information) Services, which allow organizations to outsource all or part of the ROI function for patient records; Disclosure Reporting Services, which allow organizations to easily and accurately provide patients with HIPAA-mandated information about who has seen their medical records; Request and View Services, which help the business office more quickly respond to denials from insurers; File Management Services, which provide temporary and permanent staffing and management for all file room activities and special projects; and Storage Services, for off-site storage of medical records.
