) announced that Richard E. Rivera is the company's new president and chief executive officer.

In accepting the position, Rivera will be nominated to serve on the company's board of directors.

Rivera's appointment fill Chart House's chief executive post that had been vacant since November 1996. Stephen J. McGillin, the company's executive vice president of operations, had assumed the duties and responsibilities of interim chief executive officer.

Chart House Enterprises Inc. operates 64 restaurants in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and also operates Solana Beach Baking Co., a wholesale bakery.
