The 48-year-old partner at White & Case law firm in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. is expected, for the next 30 days at least, to be putting in time at both companies before he fully assumes the duties of president at the studio.

, who for the past three years has been in charge of the entertainment division at White & Case, succeeds Jeffrey Barbakow, who resigned from the studio presidency last month. In a statement from MGM/Pathe Chairman Alan Ladd Jr., Meeker was called an "asset" as the company moves to re-establish its momentum. The company has been in financial trouble since Giancarlo Parretti bought MGM/UA last year.

Before joining White & Case, Meeker was president of F/M F/M Food to Microorganism ratio Entertainment Inc. and an attorney with O'Melveny & Myers for 17 years.
