Charles Lindbergh, Jr. Introduced as Eldest Lindbergh Child; Kidnap Victim in the ''Crime of the Century''; Issues DNA Challenge to Lindbergh Siblings.

SAN FRANCISCO -- At a press conference today San Francisco attorney Robert Damir introduced San Jose resident Charles Lindbergh, Jr. and presented detailed circumstantial evidence that he is the eldest son of Colonel Charles and Ann Morrow Lindbergh.

Damir also released details about Lindbergh's life since the 1932 kidnapping and both men issued a challenge to the surviving Lindbergh siblings to submit to DNA testing to prove Charles Lindbergh's claim once and for all.

"Overall there is more circumstantial evidence that Charlie is the kidnapped son than there was circumstantial evidence to send Bruno Hauptmann to the electric chair," Damir said.

Damir outlined much of that evidence, including physical characteristics, testimony from mutual friends of Charles and the surviving Lindbergh siblings, the behavior of Lindbergh siblings toward Charles, and the refusal of the FBI to explain the purpose or the full contents of the file kept on Charles Lindbergh, Jr. to this day. "Charlie has been told by many people over the years that he is the kidnapped son," Damir said, "This most prominently includes Vladimir Kovalik, a friend of Jon Lindbergh from their college days and now also a friend of Charlie's. "Particularly troubling is the mysterious role of the FBI in Charlie's case," Damir said. "Colonel Lindbergh was a master of clandestine activity followed by meticulous cover-up. Add to this the FBI's refusal to release most of Charlie's file, even after a Freedom of Information Act request, claiming that certain unnamed people need protection from public exposure. This would seem to support what Vladimir Kovalik told Charlie that he has been told -- Colonel Lindbergh and the FBI conspired to cover up Charlie's identity."

Damir also described previous appeals to Lindbergh siblings. "The siblings have steadfastly refused or have been completely non-responsive to requests for DNA testing," Damir said. "So this past Monday on Charlie's behalf I forwarded his fourth request for DNA testing to each of the Lindbergh siblings, Jon, Land, Reeve and Scott." Damir concluded, "The time is long overdue for this man to receive the decency of a civil response by the family that has shunned him for so many years."
