Charles Joseph Landry.ACTON Charles Joseph Landry, 71, died August 8, 2007, at Life Care Center in Littleton. His wife of 48 years, Carole Lee (Croft) Landry, died April 14, 2007. Born in River Bourgeois, Nova Scotia, to Simon & Katie (Fougere) Landry, he moved to Massachusetts in the fifties. He served in the U.S. Army 1954-1956 and was honorably discharged with a Good Conduct Medal. He became a Naturalized American in 1958. Charlie was a promising Bluegrass musician, playing professionally for several years. He worked as a carpenter with Jenks Homes, Inc. and later with Richard Kendall as K&L Carpentry. He left self-employment in 1980 for the Acton Housing Authority, retiring from there after more than 20 years. Charlie was active in Scouting for four decades, as Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, Committee member & Council member. He volunteered with the Scouters of the Isaac Davis Trail and Acton Civil Defense (now Emergency Management Agency), serving many years in the position of Shelter Manager, and later as Deputy Director. Always, Charlie embodied the spirit of the Boy Scout Oath & Laws. He received many honors, but insisted his greatest honor in Scouting was having his past Scouts stay in touch long after they left his Troop.
