Charles Industries Enhances EXchange Mux II Product Line with New ''Global Application'' Capabilites.

. The new 8.1 release of the company's EXchange Mux II features enhanced capabilities for worldwide applications. The release positions the product to address a growing need in international markets for an optical multiplexer that incorporates support for E1 to TU-12 to AU4 mapping.

In addition to support for diverse mapping schemes, release 8.1 expands the previously limited TL-1 command set. Now, the EXchange Mux II can be completely managed via TL-1. Release 8.1 also incorporates the ability to support up to eight simultaneous Telnet sessions permitting customers with spread out network responsibilities to manage the product simultaneously from different locations throughout the world.

Charles' EXchange Mux II takes multiplexing multiplexing, in communication, technique whereby two or more independent messages, or information-bearing signals, are carried by a single common medium, or channel.  to a new level. T1s or E1s can be multiplexed and transported as an OC-3 or STM-1. The platform allows customers to choose a number of multiplexing options including T1 to T3 to OC-3, T1 to VT-5 to STS-1 to OC-3, E1 to T3 to OC-3, E1 to VT2 to STS-1 to OC-3, E1 to TU-12 to AU4 to STM-1, or T1 to T3 to AU4 to STM-1. Universal module slots provide maximum flexibility to meet any application. Low power consumption and small footprint make it ideal for co-locations.
