Charles Industries Adds Support for EoPDH to the Mini-Mux 2000.

Small Form Factor, Support for DS1 and 10/100 Ethernet Drops Position Mini-Mux 2000 as the Multiplexer of Choice for Wireless Backhaul Deployments

ROLLING MEADOWS Rolling Meadows, city (1990 pop. 22,591), Cook co., NE Ill., a suburb of Chicago; inc. 1955. There is research and development and the manufacture of office supplies and electronic components. , Ill. -- Charles Industries, Ltd. has added Ethernet over PDH Ethernet over PDH or EoPDH is one of many techniques that provided Ethernet connectivity over non-Ethernet networks. Specifically, EoPDH is a standardized methodology for transporting native Ethernet frames over the existing telecommunications copper infrastructure by  (EoPDH) to its award-winning Mini-Mux([TM]) 2000 multiplexer, making it a DS3 Add/Drop Multiplexer A device installed at an intermediate point on a transmission line that enables new signals to come in and existing signals to go out. In a typical example, most signals pass through the device, but some would be "dropped" by splitting them from the line.  with support for DS1 and 10/100 Ethernet drops. The ability to support a mix of DS1 and Ethernet interfaces combined with a environmentally-hardened, one rack unit A unit of measurement of the height of a rack-mounted device. One rack unit, or RU, is 1.75". See rack mounted.  (1RU) shelf positions the Mini-Mux 2000 as a versatile multiplexing solution capable of reducing backhaul costs while meeting the need for increased bandwidth at cellular sites.

The Mini-Mux 2000 combines the functionality of a DS3 Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM See add/drop multiplexer.

) with support for Ethernet. Using the latest EoPDH technology, the Mini-Mux 2000 maps Ethernet into DS3 or DS1 facilities, allowing operators to fully leverage existing networks. Its compact one rack unit size, front access for all connections, and environmentally hardened design enables deployment in any location. With support for Point-to-Point, Linear Add/Drop, or Ring Add/Drop topologies, the Mini-Mux 2000 is the industry's most flexible DS3 ADM.

"We are encouraged by the positive initial reaction by our customer base," notes John Eberhart, Vice President of Telecom Sales for Charles Industries. "The Mini-Mux 2000 allows operators to groom T1 and Ethernet lines into a DS3 signal for efficient, cost-effective transport. This allows operators to leverage their existing infrastructure to reduce leased bandwidth, saving them considerable dollars."

The Mini-Mux 2000 cost effectively bridges the gap between Ethernet delivery and existing TDM networks, reducing the backhaul costs for cell sites while solving increased bandwidth requirements Bandwidth requirements (communications)

The channel bandwidths needed to transmit various types of signals, using various processing schemes. Every signal observed in practice can be expressed as a sum (discrete or over a frequency continuum) of sinusoidal
. The Linear Add/Drop Mux mode of operation and grooming capabilities make the Mini-Mux 2000 the perfect fit for deployment in conjunction with microwave radios. Operators can simplify maintenance and minimize points of failure by replacing back-to-back M13s installed in LADM LADM Laboratory Administration (college course)  configurations.

By using the NxT1 mode, Ethernet can be bridged across N discrete T1 facilities. Bandwidth can be increased from a single T1 up to 16 T1s through software provisioning. When deployed in conjunction with Charles Industries' Mini-Mux 155 or EXchange Mux([R]) II, the Mini-Mux 2000 yields a powerful platform to deliver T1 and Ethernet circuits from OC-3 rings.

The Mini-Mux 2000 is a fully redundant, carrier class network element that supports SONET-like protection switching for ring and terminal deployments. Dual power feeds and redundant plug in modules enable true redundancy for all DS1, DS3, and Ethernet circuits. It was awarded the 2006 GLOBALCOMM([R]) Award of Excellence in the Access Networking category.
