Charles Hirschhorn promoted to executive vice president, Hollywood Pictures.


BURBANK, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--March 20, 1995--Charles Hirschhorn has been promoted to the position of executive vice president, Hollywood Pictures, it was announced Monday by Michael Lynton In January 2004 Michael Lynton was appointed CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). As CEO, Lynton oversees Sony Pictures Entertainment's world wide operations including movies (motion pictures), TV and digital content distribution and production, , president of Hollywood Pictures.

In his new role, Hirschhorn will continue to oversee the development and production of motion pictures released under the Hollywood Pictures banner. He will report directly to Lynton.

 talents and oversee and expand our ambitious production slate. He has played a major role in bringing such prestigious films as `Quiz Show' and `The Joy Luck Club' to the screen and was instrumental in developing last year's phenomenally successful comedy, `The Santa Clause.'

For the past four years, Hirschhorn has served as senior vice president, production for Hollywood Pictures. He first came to the studio in July, 1989 as vice president of production for that banner.

Prior to that, from 1986 to 1989, he was associated with The Fox Broadcasting Co., where he held the post of vice president, development. In that capacity, he helped oversee the network's initial prime-time programming and developed the Emmy Award-winning series, "In Living Color In Living Color is a ground-breaking sketch comedy television series which ran on the FOX Network from April 15, 1990 to May 19, 1994. Executive producer Keenen Ivory Wayans created, wrote, and starred in the program. ."

In the area of motion picture production, Hirschhorn was the associate producer of the hit comedy, "Bull Durham" (1988) and served as executive producer on "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Scoundrels are a rap group that emerged during 2005.
