Charles B. Curtis Joins Edison International and Southern California Edison Boards of Directors.


ROSEMEAD, Calif. -- Edison International (NYSE NYSE

:EIX) and Southern California Edison Southern California Edison (or SCE Corp), the largest subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electricity supply company for much of Southern California. It provides 11 million people with electricity.  today announced that Charles B. Curtis, president of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a private foundation engaged in national security issues, has joined the boards of directors of both companies.

Curtis served as deputy secretary of the United States Department of Energy The United States Department of Energy (DOE) is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government responsible for energy policy and nuclear safety. Its purview includes the nation's nuclear weapons program, nuclear reactor production for the United States Navy,  from 1994 to 1997 and as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is the United States federal agency with jurisdiction over electricity sales, wholesale electric rates, hydroelectric licensing, natural gas pricing, and oil pipeline rates.  from 1977 to 1981. He has also held positions on the staffs of the U.S. House of representatives, the U.S. Treasury, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Curtis is a lawyer with 15 years' experience in private practice and more than 18 years in government service. Prior to his current role as president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

 of NTI, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the United Nations Foundation. Curtis was a partner in Hogan & Hartson, a Washington, D.C.-based international law firm.

He currently is trustee of the Putnam Funds, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is an influential and independent, nonpartisan foreign policy membership organization founded in 1921 and based at 58 East 68th Street (corner Park Avenue) in New York City, with an additional office in Washington, D.C. , the National Academics Committee on Scientific Communication and National Security and the Advisory Board of the Applied Physics Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University. He is a former member of the Defense Policy Board of the U.S. Department of Defense and the board of directors of the Gas Technology Institute, as well as a former member of the Advisory Council of the Electric Power Research Institute.

A resident of Bethesda, Maryland, Curtis earned his B.S. and B.A. degrees at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and his J.D. degree at the Boston University School of Law Coordinates:  Boston University School of Law (BU Law) is the law school affiliated with Boston University. . He is married to Rochelle Elaine Curtis. They have one married son and a grandson.
