Charity honours helper Donna.


VOLUNTEER Donna Thompson Thompson, city, Canada
Thompson, city (1991 pop. 14,977), central Man., Canada, on the Burntwood River. A mining town, it developed after large nickel deposits were discovered in the area in 1956.
 has been rewarded for a decade of service at a charity shop and overcoming personal hurdles.

Donna was presented with a 10-year long service award at the Nuneaton Nun·ea·ton

She has a learning disability and originally started as a volunteer with her mum. When her mum died, she carried on at the charity shop, supported by Aim 4, one of Warwickshire County Council's employment services for people with learning disabilities.

Shop manager Fiona Holland said: "Donna and I started work here around the same time.

It is fantastic to see how much her confidence has grown."

Explaining the longservice award, she said: "We wanted to thank Donna for her hard work and commitment, and to ensure she knows how much we appreciate her."

Donna also has a paid job as a domestic, which is supported by staff from Aim 4, and helps to run the Credit Union at Aim 4 in Nuneaton.
