Charity event thanks medics.


A TEENAGER is planning a fundraising event to thank those who saved her. Charlotte Lee began having headaches, dizzy spells and vomiting in 2007. But doctors put the problems down to hormonal issues or a virus.

Her parents, Joan and Kevin, made several visits to doctors and said they would like a second opinion.

In August 2007, Charlotte, then 13, was again ill so they took her to accident and emergency at Newcastle General Hospital.

Charlotte, known to family and friends as Charliie, then had radiotherapy and chemotherapy before a scan last November gave her the all-clear.

Now Charliie, 15, whose parents run a bed and breakfast at Stone Cottage near Ponteland, is holding an auction night to raise funds for the children's cancer unit at Newcastle's RVI RVI Radio Vlaanderen Internationaal (public broadcaster of the Flemish Community in Belgium)
