Charity dippers set for plunge.Hardy fundraisers are getting ready to take the plunge in Redcar's annual Boxing Day dip The Boxing Day Dip is a charity event where people in fancy dress swim in the sea on Boxing Day. There are several such dips held around Europe, but the largest is organised by the Lions Club of Sunderland, England. . Lions Club supporters have, since 1969, eagerly taken part in the sponsored festive dip. Last year's dip organised by the Middlesbrough Teesside Lions Club saw 120 fundraisers take part and raise pounds 8,000 which was used to help 26 charities. Giles Bolitho, the Lions Club's dip co-ordinator, said: "Of the sponsorship money, two thirds is paid to the dipper's own charity, the remaining one third is donated to Middlesbrough Teesside Lions Club's charity account."
