Charity cyclists' marathon journey.

Owen Edward Hughes (born: 1848 - died: 1932) was a former territorial level politician and Member of the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly from 1885 until 1888.
 

FIVE cyclists have pedalled their way from one end of Wales to the other in the name of charity.

Raising money for Cancer Research Wales, the cyclists from North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  began their journey in Bull Bay near Amlwch on Thursday, June 4. Four days and several punctures later, the fundraisers were able to rest their legs at the finish line in Rhoose in Barry.

The fundraisers were Dafydd Sion Loughran, 19, Huw Waters Huw Waters (born September 26, 1986 in Cardiff) is a Welsh cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast medium pace bowler who plays for Glamorgan.

He started playing for Glamorgan in 2005 and was named in England's tour of Bangladesh, but had to withdraw his

, 22, who joined forces to cycle the 214 miles in rain and shine.

Fourth year medical student Huw Morgan Jones said: "Thursday was hard as it was really sunny, and we had hills to climb. Dolgellau and Machynlleth nearly finished us off, but luckily what goes up, must come down-which was very much appreciated!" On Friday the men rode 36 miles to Cwmann in Lampeter followed by a rest day on Saturday. The final day took the group the remaining 82 miles to the finish line in Rhoose near Barry.

Huw added: "The weather made an absolute mockery of us. It would be sunny one minute, then hard showers the next-we came back soaking wet but with a tan.

"Even though we did have a good, albeit tough, time cycling, there was a serious reason for doing. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in Wales, and affects so many people.

"We believe Cancer Research Wales is a great cause and can make a real difference to the lives of people suffering with the illness."
