Charity chief is bowing out; SEARCH: Foundation starts looking for 'outstanding' chief executive.Byline: Jon Griffin ONE of the West Midlands' best known business figures is stepping down from his high-profile job as chief executive of the region's biggest charity organisation. Derek Inman is leaving Birmingham Community Foundation after nearly three years in a part-time capacity at the helm of the charity, it was revealed today. The Foundation is now looking to recruit a full-time chief executive to help run its 12-strong team based at its headquarters at Nechells Baths in Birmingham. The privately funded organisation last year awarded more than pounds 2.54 million in grants to over 700 local projects, a record total since it was first established 11 years ago. Mr Inman took early retirement as BT's head of UK regions for the Midlands, Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. The capital is Cardiff. and the West in 2002 to pursue volunteer roles and other charitable work. He is also a past chairman of Birmingham Forward and the Birmingham and Solihull Learning Exchange. He said today: "I was part-time and they really need a full-time person - they need a fund-raiser to bring the money in. There is a unique opportunity for the next year for any funding to be matched by the Government and therefore doubled. "It is a big job and a high-profile job. I worked three days a week but now they are looking for somebody full-time. It needs a different type of person now. "I wish the Foundation well for the future and will certainly be staying in touch." The renovation of Nechells Baths has been hailed as a significant success story for the Foundation, which aims to help tackle joblessness as well as aid youth education, upskilling and childcare provision. The charity also supports many projects, including arts and culture, disability and special needs, educa-tionemployment, environmental, family values family values pl.n. The moral and social values traditionally maintained and affirmed within a family. , health and social issues and sport. The charity is supported by a Board of Trustees, which includes a network of Birmingham's business leaders. The former BT executive took the reins at the Foundation in late 2006 from former chief executive Harvey Mansfield Harvey C. Mansfield, Jr. is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Government at Harvard University, where he has taught since 1962. He has held Guggenheim and NEH Fellowships and has been a Fellow at the National Humanities Center; he also received the National Humanities Medal in .
