Charity cash to behandedover.


Fundraisers at a North Ormesby club will give a boost to a hospital ward.

A cheque for more than pounds 1,000 will be handed over to nurses from James Cook University Situated in the tropical gardens of the campus, the halls of residence provide students with modern social and sporting facilities as well as the opportunity to choose between catered or self-catered accommodation.  Hospital's Ward 23 during a charity night at Teesside Bridge Social Club. The presentation will take place at the club in Kings Road, North Ormesby tonight . Club secretary John Turner said they were hoping to hand over a cheque for between pounds 1,000 and pounds 1,500, which was raised through events including a sponsored bike ride from Middlesbrough to Scarborough and back.

The charity night will also include music, raffles and bingo. Admission is pounds 1 on the door.

The stage is set

SEDGEFIELD Players' 30th Drama Festival of One Act Plays opened on Tuesday with plays by their own youth section the SPYS, Singing in the Wilderness, followed by the Allerton Players with Henna Night and To Have and to Hold

To Have and to Hold is a 1900 novel by American author, Mary Johnston.
. Eight more plays will be performed at Sedgefield Parish Hall before Saturday evening, when the awards are presented.
