Charity aim for pub's walkers.


WACKY walkers have a charitable goal - to reach the pub in time for the England match!

On Saturday, a 33-strong team of regulars from Redcar's Wheatlands Farm Wacky Warehouse pub will walk from Middlesbrough to Redcar to raise cash for the MS Therapy Centre, South Bank.

Assistant manager at "The Wacky", Lee Johnson Lee Johnson is the name of:
  • Lee Johnson (American football player) (born in 27 November 1961 in Conroe, Texas), a former American football player
  • Lee Johnson (footballer) (born 7 June 1981 in Newmarket), an English professional footballer
, has organised the walk with pub regular Mark Wells Mark Wells (born September 18, 1957 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan) is a retired American ice hockey forward. He is best known for being a member of the Miracle On Ice 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team won the gold medal. , whose dad-in-law, Mike Horsley, runs the MS Centre.

And Mark, 31, a fitter for Multiserve at Corus, says they have a target in mind.

He said: "We'll set off from the Transporter Bridge A transporter bridge (also ferry bridge or aerial transfer bridge) is a type of movable bridge that carries a segment of roadway across a river. The gondola is slung from a tall span by wires or a metal frame.  at about 11am and aim to be back at The Wacky in time to have a few drinks and watch the England v Slovenia match. It started off as a few friends, then Lee put posters up in the Wacky bar and we've now got 33 people doing it."

Last year, a group walked from Staithes to Turner's Mill, a pub on Redcar's Ings estate.
