The Gourmet Dinner is celebrating its 40th year in November 2004. The annual event raises the majority of the organization's annual budget for helping "at-risk" children throughout Orange County. "The $350,000 we hope to raise this year will help match at-risk children with a mentor that can have a significant impact on their lives." Friedman has been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters since 1994, serving as a chair and co-chair for the annual Gourmet Dinner for several years. In addition, Friedman has made a tradition of making donations of at least $10,000. This year, his donation will help recruit big brothers, screen mentors, fund events for the children and help the organization increase visibility with potential volunteers.
