LOOKING back over the years there have been many milestones of note, one of which occurred in 1950/51 when at the Standard Motor Works Pavilion in Coventry the Sports Argus darts teams success equalled anything they had achieved before.

They were up against a well organised Chapelfields League. It was a special occasion for this was the 100th match for the charity aces and it proved to be a great match which ended in a 5-4 victory for the Argus.

Stepping up for the winners that night were F Richman, B Whitfield, A Grant, W Brindle brindle

Moving on to October 23 1981, a full house at Sheldon Heath Social saw the Sports Argus step up for their 1000th match against Sheldon Darts League.

Sheldon and the Sports Argus were determined to make it a big night and on all counts they succeeded.

Special mementoes were presented to both squads plus former members of the Sports Argus team who were present, Dick Guy, Les Pickford, Bill Gorst, Johnny Mathews, John Venn Noun 1. John Venn - English logician who introduced Venn diagrams (1834-1923)

, Stan Beedon and Bunny Martin who represented various squads since our formation in 1947.

Sheldon selected a strong squad but it was their misfortune to meet a Sports Argus team on top form determined to celebrate this very special evening and they did with an 8-1 victory through Mangal Singh, Mick Lewis For other persons of the same name, see Michael Lewis.
