Charities advisory panel members appointed.


OTTAWA -- The federal government allocated $24 million over two years in the 2004 budget for reforming charity regulation and has appointed the Charities Advisory Board as the first step in this process.

. The board is designed to provide information about charity regulation reform, deal with emerging issues and trends in the sector, address issues surrounding the administration of new sanctions and the revised appeal process.

The Committee's membership, which is composed of people from the charitable sector, is mandated to meet three times per year starting in April 2004 and is to report annually.
