Charges: Woman tried to open jet door

A woman is accused of scuffling with flight attendants and passengers on a San Francisco-bound flight and threatening to open a cabin door in mid-flight, authorities said.

The woman told flight attendants aboard United Airlines Flight 179 from Boston on Sunday, "I'm calling 911 because the plane is being hijacked," according to an FBI affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco.

Erin Callahan Lambert, 28, also said, "I'm getting off the aircraft" and threatened to open the cabin door while the plane was airborne, according to the affidavit.

After taking a passenger's seat and trying to take her own dog in a carrier to the restroom, she fought with passengers and flight attendants and spat at them, authorities said. She was restrained with plastic ties.

Prosecutors charged her Monday with assaulting a flight attendant and interfering with the duties of flight crew members. Messages left for listings for "E. Lambert" and "Erin Lambert" were not immediately returned.
